Channel 4 are looking to launch a new channel consisting of repeats of popular programmes from the past seven days.

The idea is being slated as Project Shuffle.

Broadcast Now say “the main channel’s content would be made available for the next seven days in a linear broadcast fashion”.

For example “an episode of Location, Location, Location premiering on a Wednesday would be played out in the same slot on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday”.

It’s not known what the channel would be called, when it will launch or which TV platforms it will be available on.

Current TV shutdown “likely”

It’s thought Current TV will cease broadcasting in March.

Al Gore’s news & documentary channel has been axed from Sky’s pay TV lineup.

Current TV will remain on Sky for the time being but now as a free-to-air channel. However, The Guardian reports “low audience figures mean it is unlikely to generate much in advertising”.

The Guardian quotes Current TV’s UK managing director Jane Mote as saying “it is looking likely we will have to close on 11 March. A large part of our funds comes from the subscriber fees we get from Sky”.

Current TV’s carriage deal for Virgin Media cable TV is set to expire in March but it’s thought “negotiations were ongoing”.
