New look MTV has arrived

MTV have rebranded with new logos.

Also MTVN HD was due to rebrand as MTV Live HD on the same day but the channel is still known as MTVN HD so it’s thought this change has been postponed.

The new logos for all MTV channels are based on the same theme as those on MTV in the US, dropping the iconic “Music Television” subtext from the bottom.

Some content will also now be aired in widescreen 16:9 format.

Changes to MTV channels from July

MTV will be rebranding some of their channels on the 1st July.

They will be dropping the “Music Television” subtext from their channel logos and MTVN HD will be renamed to MTV Live HD.

MTV channels will also be available in 16:9 widescreen for the first time in their UK history on that same date.

The main MTV channel will be moving from the music section of the Sky EPG (channel 350) to the entertainment section (channel 126) on the 1st February.

This is part of other channel number changes coming up on Sky in February.

A new music-only channel called MTV Music will launch on the 1st February on MTV’s current slot (channel 350). The official website for MTV Music can be found at www.mtv.co.uk/music. MTV Music will replace MTV Shows, which closes down on the same day.

MTV changes today

Several changes have come into effect for MTV channels this morning. MTVR has been rebranded as MTV Shows, MTV Two has been rebranded as MTV Rocks and VH1 Classic has been renamed as MTV Classic. These changes have taken place on Sky and Virgin Media TV platforms.

The rebrand of MTV One has taken place today. The channel is now known as MTV – it’s original name prior to the 2007 rebrand to MTV One – and it’s timeshift channel is now known as MTV +1. MTV is available on Virgin Media channel 311, Sky and Tiscali TV. MTV +1 is available on Virgin Media channel 312 and Sky.

MTV One to rebrand as MTV 1st July

According to AGB Nielson’s website, MTV One will be changing its name to MTV from the 1st July, and MTV One +1 will change it’s name to MTV +1 on the same date. MTV UK became MTV One back in July 2007. MTV One is available on Virgin Media and Sky.
